The Writing of Chris Ernest Hall

The following works are currently available, or will be available shortly.

Check out the Writing of Chris Ernest Hall weblog where I blog the writing I'm doing for the class The Novel: Continuing Work In Progress.

Andy Warhol's Sister & Other Stories  A collection of short stories I wrote while living in Santa Cruz, CA, including the title story, Television Set and Something Interesting to Watch.

The Deep & Savage Way  UC Santa Zita freshman Michael Sullivan is estranged from his dormitory floormates and in love with his literature class's teaching assistant, Helen Zachary. He sees no hope of meaningful contact with either until he comes to know and befriend his neighbor, junior Timothy Page, who guides him through Santa Zita and all it has to offer.

Helen of Santa Zita  Helen Zachary battles with her literature professor, politically correct students and answering machine as she tries to get over breaking up with her boyfriend of two years.

Notes From the Moscow Film World   Something I wrote while under the influence of Russian literature–the challenges of making a film in the chaotic world of post-Revolution Soviet Russia.

1989->A Novel: Part I  The first eleven chapters of the novel I'm working on now. 1989->A Novel is set during the summer and fall of the year 1989, and explores the relationship between Timothy Dylan Page, a twenty-one year old college student, and April Hall, a sixteen year old high school student who meet while working together at a movie theater in the seaside town of Santa Zita, California..

Notes For a Future Novel  Something from deep in the archives; the piece of writing that was the original inspiration for the Tim novels. In it you can see the roots of both The Deep & Savage Way and Helen of Santa Zita.

A Guide to the World of the Santa Zita Quintet   You can't tell the players without a program. A glossary of people, places and things in the Santa Zita Quintet.

The Symbolism of the Santa Zita Quintet   Inspired by Dave Eggers, I have created a guide to the complex symbolism of the Santa Zita Quintet.
